David Kaplan - Associate Producer

Producer and President of Kodiak Resource Development,

David Kaplan is a fishery
biologist and documentary filmmaker. He established Kodiak
Resource Development in
2002, a film production company that produces documentary and
wildlife films and provides biological consulting for Alaskan
wildlife and fisheries. He also is the Founder and President of Kodiak
FilmWorks, a member
organization of the Kodiak Arts Council that promotes filmmaking,
film festivals and multi-media projects.
Before David became a Film
Producer, he was a Research Assistant for the USDA, Forest
Service, Research Biologist for Alaska Dept of Fish & Game,
Fish Culturist for Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association, and
the Executive Director for the
Baranov
Museum
and Kodiak Historical Society.
David and his colleagues
have produced a number of successful documentary films that
address the importance of wildlife issues, sustainable fisheries,
and Alaskan perspectives. David is a frequent and popular speaker
at conferences and film festivals. He is currently working on
several film projects with International Film Producer, Stefan
Quinth from
Sweden
and Academy Award Nominee and 3-Time Emmy Award winning
Cinematographer, Bill Bacon.
David earned his bachelor
degree in biological sciences from the
University
of
Alaska Fairbanks
and has continued to serve the State of
Alaska
in multiple biological research and management projects.
He is also a husband to (Marita)
and the father of two children (Hannah and Max). David, Marita and
their children live on
Kodiak Island
,
Alaska
. David was born in
Miami
,
Florida
and came to
Alaska
in 1986.
David has been working
together with Camera Q since 2002 and has been associate producer
on several of our Alaskan films.
